Davis has been in Melbourne to witness the hype of a grand final build-up as the Hawks and Swans prepare for battle at the MCG today.
The Giants co-captain admits it made him a bit jealous watching rival teams get ready for the biggest day of the season.
It's even harder when a former teammate - Hawks forward Jack Gunston - is just one win away from a premiership.
But Davis is harnessing all the excitement to return to the Giants and start building their tilt for grand final glory.
The only catch is the former Marist College student says the Giants' premiership window is still four or five years away.
''There's a lot of fanfare and stuff that goes on down here, it's great but there is a bit of envy there,'' Davis said. ''Everyone plays for team success and to see what all the players go through, you're definitely envious of the opportunity they get.
''Hopefully we [the Giants] can start pushing for finals in 2014 or 2015 and then it's all about how we push on from there.
''I like to think 2016 to 2018 we can hopefully get to the pointy end of the table and give ourselves a chance.''
Davis, who played with Gunston at the Adelaide Crows last year, said the key to toppling Hawthorn was not shutting down forward-line superstar Lance Franklin.
Instead, he said winning the battle of the midfield would decide the game.
''It's going to be close, if Sydney can get the game they want with stoppages then they'll be a big chance to win,'' he said. ''But if the game is played on the outside, I think Hawthorn might be a bit too slick … I think Hawthorn will win, they've been the best team all year.''
