An impressive display against Greater Western Sydney on Sunday has made utility Mitch Golby the Brisbane Lions' second AFL Rising Star nominee this year.

Golby, 20, racked up 24 possessions, eight marks and four tackles in the 92-point victory over the Giants.

Lions' coach Michael Voss said Golby's nomination was just reward for his perseverance to overcome injury problems.

"Mitch shows an exceptional work rate and has really found his place in our backline this year," Voss said.

"He's a quiet achiever - he puts his head down and does his job with no fuss."

Golby was recruited by the Lions from Kilcunda-Bass in Gippsland in the 2010 rookie draft and was elevated to their senior list in June last year.

Teammate Claye Beams was the round-one Rising Star nominee.
