Hansen to face tribunal for bump

NORTH Melbourne's Lachie Hansen will face the VFL tribunal tonight on a rough conduct charge for a heavy bump on young Northern Blues player Tim Totevski, who finished the match on the sidelines with severe concussion on Saturday.

Hansen, who is expected to be in the mix for a recall against the Brisbane Lions this week if cleared, will be scrutinised for the incident in the third term of the Werribee-Northern Blues clash at Avalon Airport Oval.

In the footage, small forward Totevski's head flings back and hits the ground hard and he was immediately taken from the ground. The VFL tribunal has been delayed until tonight because of state team training last night.

Hansen was named best on ground and kicked 3.4 including the match-winner for Werribee on Saturday and, given the Kangaroos' recent poor form in the AFL, he would almost certainly be in the mix for a return against the Lions, perhaps along with Robbie Tarrant, who impressed with four goals. Liam Anthony and Cruize Garlett were also among the best for the Roos other VFL affiliate North Ballarat on Saturday.

The quirk of the VFL draw will come into consideration as the competition has a bye this week because of the state game against Tasmania on Saturday. If Hansen was to be suspended for even one week, he will effectively miss two weeks. Werribee also has the bye in round 11 which may also further complicate matters if the panel decide the bump was severe.
