Hawthorn's first Irish recruit, Ciaran Kilkenny, admits the lure of an AFL career was just too good an offer to refuse.

One of the Gaelic Athletic Association's brightest young dual talents in both hurling and Gaelic football, Kilkenny, the winner of an All-Ireland Under-21 Gaelic football medal with Dublin earlier this year, will arrive in time for the start of pre-season training with the Hawks next month.

''This is not a decision I reached lightly but the opportunity to experience a different culture, test myself in a new code and live the life of a professional athlete is one I could not pass up,'' he said.
