FELLOW code-hopper Karmichael Hunt says Israel Folau is right to quit the AFL.
Hunt said he was shocked when the news reached him at the Gold Coast's altitude training camp in Arizona. ''I guess it's a pretty brave decision on his behalf and I respect his decision because he felt his heart's not in it,'' he told afl.com.au. ''It would have been unfair to a lot of people, including himself, if he just stayed on. I wish him well.''
Hunt switched from rugby league to the AFL at the end of 2009, with Folau following 12 months later when he joined Greater Western Sydney.
The pair played for the Brisbane Broncos, Queensland and Australia together. Folau struggled to learn the game.
Hunt said he had never considered quitting, this year signing a contract extension until the end of the 2014 season.
