YOU ARE? Amy Burgoyne
Wife of Shaun and mother of Ky, 6, Percy, 3, and Leni, 6 weeks. Daughter of Greg Phillips (eight-time Port Adelaide SANFL premiership player and ex-Collingwood), sister of Olympic basketballer Erin, and former state netballer.
DOES YOUR LIFE CHANGE AT ALL DURING SEPTEMBER?: It can't really, because we just wouldn't function if it did!
YOU TOOK A WHILE TO TELL YOUR DAD ABOUT SHAUN?: Yes, Shaun was just a ''friend'' for a long time. We were 15.
HOW DID YOUR PATHS CROSS?: Shaun's dad's first job was working on my grandfather's farm, so all the family knew each other before we did. When he was playing for SMOSH West Lakes, his younger brother, Phil, was actually playing with my younger sister, Erin. So one day we were just there watching their game and my grandma stopped and was talking to his parents. Shaun was just sitting there next to them and I asked him if he wanted to have a kick of the footy on the oval. He told me no because he was resting his legs for the game! He thinks I stalked him for a while after that, but I didn't. He was the one who approached me down the track. It would have been a year or so until I told dad.
WHAT TAKES MORE WORK, MANAGING THREE KIDS OR LIVING WITH A NERVOUS FOOTBALLER?: A nervous finals footballer! He's actually not too bad, though I have been throwing up some scenarios: asking him about Freo and Adelaide, and tickets.
WITH SHAUN AND YOUR DAD YOU'RE A FINALS VETERAN. HOW HAS THAT EXPERIENCE CHANGED FOR YOU?: When dad played in his grand finals we were right down by the fence … so we've sort of upper-classed it a little bit. It's quite nice, we've got the bar behind us now at the MCG! I don't think I really realised before how hard finals are to come by. So it would just be great for us - it would just be icing on the cake if, after making the move over to Melbourne and leaving all our family and close friends that we grew up with in Adelaide, Shaun could win a premiership here.
HAVE YOU HAD A FAVOURITE COACH?: I'd have to say Clarko [Alastair Clarkson] wouldn't I? Karin, his wife, is just so lovely.
YOU ARE ANDREW DEMETRIOU FOR A DAY, WHAT DO YOU DO?: Maybe we could let women run the AFL for the day. That would include coaching and medical staff, runners and trainers. That would be great.
YOU CAN CHANGE ONE THING IN FOOTBALL, WHAT IS IT?: 6am recovery sessions. I'd make it in the afternoon, once the morning rush is over, so Shaun could be up but help me with the kids!
YOUR FAVOURITE FINALS MEMORY: Running around the oval after the 1992 grand final with my dad and my two sisters. That's from my dad's career. And of Shaun's - probably when he went in the motorcade with Ky before the grand final, even though Port Adelaide got flogged.
