GEELONG forward Steve Johnson must head to the tribunal tomorrow night to have any chance of playing in his club's elimination final against Fremantle this weekend.
While Johnson escaped a charge of interfering with a potentially injured player, Sydney's Dan Hannebery, he has been given a one-match suspension for the preceding incident in which he knocked Hannebery to the ground behind play. His poor record and carry-over points prevent him downgrading the charge sufficiently to face the Dockers, and he risks an additional match if his tribunal challenge fails.
The Cats fared better in the matter of Paul Chapman's report for striking Swan Ben McGlynn, with the pivotal forward receiving a reprimand.
Sydney's task of curtailing Adelaide tall forwards Taylor Walker and Kurt Tippett has been made harder by a one-match suspension for defender Heath Grundy, who elbowed his opponent James Podsiadly, of Geelong, in the head.
GWS playing assistant coach James McDonald has been offered a one-match suspension for clattering into North Melbourne's Jamie Macmillan seconds into Saturday's match between the teams at Skoda Stadium.
Giants youngster Curtly Hampton has been offered a reprimand for tripping the Kangaroos' Ryan Bastinac.
Gold Coast veteran Campbell Brown is also facing the year's biggest suspension, eight matches, for forceful front-on contact to Adelaide's Aidan Riley. While the base penalty was five matches Brown's 50 per cent load for his bad record, the maximum permitted under AFL rules, inflated the penalty by another three matches. If Brown accepts the charge the penalty will be reduced to six matches and 18.75 carry-over points.
St Kilda's Leigh Montagna has been offered a one-match ban for rough conduct for clattering into Carlton's Andrew Walker.
His teammates Tom Simpkin and Stephen Milne and Carlton's Mitch Robinson and Walker have also been fined for wrestling, with Robinson facing the maximum fine of $4000, or $3000 with a guilty plea, because it is his third offence.
Four players - Gold Coast's Trent McKenzie, Brisbane's Amon Buchanan and North Melbourne pair Cruize Garlett and Jack Ziebell - have been fined for umpire contact.
