RETIRED Geelong full-back Matthew Scarlett will be one of eight new AFL life members in March.

Scarlett was one of five to qualify automatically for life membership during the 2012 season by reaching 300 games as player and/or coach.

Others were Gold Coast coach Guy McKenna, Richmond coach Damien Hardwick, Fremantle coach Ross Lyon and Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich.

Michael Green, Kevin Rose and Trevor Nisbett will be made life members for service to the game.
