8.30pm
- That wraps up the coverage. Hope you all enjoyed it and gained some insights. I'm certainly not going to fall into the trap of coming to any premature conclusions. Come back to me in five years for an assessment of which clubs 'won' with this year's batch of players! See you next draft.

8.18pm
- The draft has come to a (slightly sudden) end after the clubs flew through the final few rounds. There were many promoted rookies towards the end but one of the names that stand out is Majak Daw, who joins the senior list at North Melbourne. Others in that category include Zach Tuohy (Carlton) and Ian Callinan (Adelaide).

8.10pm
- There's a distinct lack of familiar names being called out by the clubs so far. But here's some of our early favourites for headline-writers: Timothy Broomhead (Collingwood), Liam Mcbean (Richmond) and Dylan Van Unen (Essendon).

7.59pm -
A bit of scuttlebutt around in social media about the one and only Andrew Demetriou having his mic on during the 'secondary' broadcast. Apparently fans around the country have been treated to some of his mutterings to sidekick Adrian Anderson. Would have made for fascinating listening. Anyone else hear that?

7.49pm -
Good results so far with Emma Quayle and her phantom first round. She managed to get her top 14 picks going to the clubs she nominated (two of the picks were switched, meaning Aidan Corr went to the Giants with the No.14 selection instead of their No.12 pick. Well done Emma!

7.39pm -
First round is now a thing of the past. Fox Footy goes away from the counting down of selections, instead focusing their resources on interviews with the top picks. Unless you've got a red button to return to the 'real action', you're stuck with the panel of Dunstall, Lynch and Brad Johnson grilling the young folk.

7.32pm
- Magpies race through their three consecutive picks (18-20). Of course Collingwood had that fortune after the Crows decided to 'withdraw' their first two picks, meaning No.20 was no longer theirs. Crows officials are reportedly just twiddling their thumbs out the back.

7.28pm -
Top 10 picks are done and dusted. Now things really get interesting.

7.25pm
- The biggest non-surprise of the night .... Joe Daniher to Essendon! The famous Bomber name returns to Windy Hill. Daniher towers over TV host Anthony Hudson on stage as he's being interviewed.

7.21pm -
The recruiters are getting things done now. Jackson Macrae and Jake Stringer are heading to the Bulldogs, while Ollie Wines is going to Port Adelaide.

7.17pm
- Picks two and three are done. Jonathan O'Rourke and Lachie Plowman are also heading to the Giants. Let's get on with the other clubs!

7.12pm -
First pick has been announced. It's ..... Lachie Whitfield, who is heading to GWS. Giants coach Kevin Sheedy gives him the customary handshake. Whitfield has been drafted from the Dandenong Stingrays, and is originally from Mt Martha on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.

7.09pm
- AFL boss Andrew Demetriou is taking us through the draft rules ... then sidekick Adrian Anderson gets his turn. Live TV at its best. Parents in the room are starting to yawn ...

7.01pm -
The draft is being held on the sunny Gold Coast once again. Not sure if the event is hot on the lips of the locals down in Surfers Paradise .... but at least the AFL types get a couple of days up in the sun.

6.55pm
- It has once again been intriguing to read the prognostications of our resident draft expert Emma Quayle. In between breaking exclusive news story after exclusive news story about the Tippett saga, Emma came with up her predicted first round selections (after the Crows 'gave up' their selections, along with Top 25 players in order (Joe Daniher as No.1, but he's going to the Bombers as a father-son selection.

6.45pm
- Only a matter of minutes now until the latest No.1 pick is unveiled. Great to hear that the picks will be revealed as they happen, rather than the bollocks of recent years when their was a countdown from 10 to 1 after the selections had been made 'in camera'.
