Port Adelaide captain Travis Boak says he cannot recall a time when so many of his team-mates have returned from a Christmas break in better shape than they have this year.
The Power resumed pre-season on Monday and stunned fitness staff with the results of their 3km time trial, as three quarters of the list ran personal best times.
Boak, preparing for 10th AFL season, only just missed his personal best in the time-trial, while Sam Colquhoun headed the group, closely followed by Kane Mitchell and Tom Clurey.
"It's probably the best I've seen the group run – certainly a [3km time trial] – in my time here," Boak said.
"It's quite easy to go back home or wherever you're from and relax, have a few beers and take it easy … but they've certainly worked hard and come back in really good shap."
"We know our strength is our running and we build our game around that and that's gone to another level so far."
