Richmond forward Ty Vickery went goalless and his performance in the ruckwas overshadowed by veteran ruckman Orren Stephenson, who was best on ground, in the Tigers' 36-point win over Essendon at Punt Road Oval on Saturday.

Vickery, who was dropped from the AFL team to make way for ruckman Ivan Maric, played a hand in several goals, however, including a pin-point pass to Aaron Edwards, who finished with four goals. The Tiger eventually finished with 21 disposals and 13 marks, described as an "honest" performance from Richmond's VFL coach.

While all eyes was on the performance of Vickery, Stephenson was clinical in the ruck while rookie Richmond midfielder Anthony Miles starred with 35 disposals.

Stephenson was awarded the Sir Doug Nicholls Award for best player on the ground.

Brad Helbig also impressed forRichmond with 26 disposals as several Tigers put their hands up for a senior recall ahead of next Sunday’s clashwith North Melbourne.

Ricky Petterd finished the game off well with 20 touches in the second half as they Tigers dominated against the Bombers from the outset.

Leroy Jetta and Cory Dell’Olio were among the Bombers' best.
