Van Berlo first to go in Freo cull

Date

Jay van Berlo is the most notable victim of the start of Fremantle's off-season cull, with the 32-game Docker being delisted by the club today on his 24th birthday.

Van Berlo, whose brother Nathan is captain of Fremantle's finals conqueror Adelaide, debuted in round 17 of 2009 but made only two appearances this year under Ross Lyon, in losses to Hawthorn and West Coast in rounds eight and nine.

His most memorable game as a Dockers was a 22-possession, four-goal effort in a thrilling win over the Western Bulldogs on Anzac Day, 2011.

Also delisted by the Dockers today were untried rookies Gavin Roberts and Jordan Wilson-King.

Veteran defender Antoni Grover has retired.

Fremantle will release further updates on player movements in the lead-up to the AFL's first list lodgement deadline on October 31.
