Live blog: High noon with Rohan Connolly
We're leaving it there for today, folks. Thanks everyone for some great questions and comments, though those five-parters have worn me down a bit! Great weekend of footy is round 7, Ess-WC, Adel-Geel and Rich-Syd highlights, as is, from a different perspective, the GWS-Gold Coast clash. Still going Monday night, too, a real endurance test! Enjoy it all, and we'll catch you back here next Thursday at midday.
When Essendon trudged off a soggy Carrara in round three, having only just outlasted a determined Gold Coast, you could mount a solid case that the Bombers' unbeaten status flattered to deceive.
The Dons had looked a real chance to lose to the Suns until the last five minutes. The week before, they'd been in trouble into the last quarter at home to Port Adelaide. And only Hamish McIntosh's post-siren miss had spared them from defeat in round one.
At that point, even they must have been anxious about the next month in which they'd take on Carlton, Collingwood and West Coast. That's certainly not the case now. The Bombers are re-signing stars and attracting attention as a flag fancy. Far from breaking Essendon, the tough run may just have helped make it.
So is Essendon the real deal? Are the Bombers in contention for a top four berth for the first time since 2001? Join a live blog with Rohan Connolly from midday Thursday.
