Fans of all opposing teams have routinely abused the dual Brownlow medalist and Australian of the Year, a proud Indigenous man who has spoken out against racism.
Appearing on AFL 360 on Tuesday night, Goddard said the booing had to stop.
"Not only for Adam, but for the rest of the Indigenous community and their families."
He said whatever the reasons crowd members had given for the abuse, from that point on, the AFL Players' Association would consider it racist.
Hawthorn's Jordan Lewis said he understood that opposition fans would boo a player who had left their club for another, or if they saw unfair play on the field, but to abuse a footballer for 17 weeks straight was not on.
If the booing continued it would be "idiotic," Lewis said.
The Swans said on Tuesday Goodes was sick and tired of the booing and was taking a few days off training.
