Essendon forward Scott Gumbleton will remain with the Bombers next year.
Gumbleton has knocked back a two-year offer from the Western Bulldogs in favour of signing a one-year deal with the Bombers.
Essendon improved its offer to the 24-year-old, who also drew interest from Fremantle, Melbourne and earlier Carlton, today.
Gumbleton has played just 28 games since the Bombers drafted him at No. 2 in 2006, overcoming a series of debilitating injuries. He played six games in the second half of this season after back surgery the club believes has solved his problems.
