'Minor actions' in Australia

Date

Georgia Wilkins

CITIGROUP has warned of some ''minor action'' in its Australian operations during the global restructure.

Citi's Australian spokesman, Steven Blaney, would not say how many jobs might be lost, but said the company would be taking ''minor action over the coming months''.

''We have been constantly reviewing the business in the past couple of years, and taking action to make sure that the business reflects market conditions.''

Citigroup employs about 2000 people in Australia and operates 13 Citibank branches.

Mr Blaney said no Australian branches would be closed.
