The store replaces Supabarn, which closed on May 17 for rebranding and redevelopment.
The entrance has been replaced with red hoarding and a sign indicating the opening date, and that the new Coles will also feature a Liquorland.
The closure has left Civic workers and local residents on foot with the options of shopping at Aldi, also in the Canberra Centre, and the IGA in the bus interchange.
The change comes two months after the competition watchdog cleared the way for three Supabarn stores in the ACT, Wanniassa, Kaleen and Civic, to be sold to Coles.
The Canberra Centre Supabarn is the final ACT store to close and re-open as Coles.
The new Wanniassa Coles opened on May 11. Coles also confirmed to The Canberra Times that the Kaleen Supabarn, which closed on May 10, would re-open as a Coles on June 1.
