Building standards review overdue

The government's decision to critique the building industry (with a particular focus on the apartment market) is well overdue, if somewhat unexpected. In March 2014, Attorney-General Simon Corbell said the government could deal best with shoddy building work by engaging with industry rather than conduct a broad-ranging review. It's probably a sharply rising tide of grievance and dispute has led the government to take a new reform approach, one based in the first instance on public and industry feedback.
