Canberra Times letters: Postal vote a costly mess

The Plebiscite Bill has once again been rejected by the Senate. I support that decision. But I certainly do not support the government's now proposed postal vote on the issue which is going to cost me and all my other fellow tax payers $122million. That is our money. There are more important issues affecting Australians that that amount of money could be spent on. Australia is a democracy where peaceful protests in the streets are allowed. So let's fill up the streets to protest about the Government spending $122m of our money without our permission. Perhaps then that protest will send a message that a postal vote is not what the majority of Australians want. Instead, let our elected politicians vote on it in Parliament. It is that simple.
