Consumers should boycott the world’s big tax-dodgers

The article "Australia played for mug on tax", BusinessDay, July 1, p7) reports that PayPal joins the ever-growing list of multinational companies which are effectively avoiding taxation in Australia, despite earning multimillion-dollar profits from unwitting Australian citizens. There is a simple answer for each of us in dealing with these companies: do not buy their products or services. However, I fear that the usual casual Australian approach will prevail: "She'll be right, mate."
