Here's the cultivation of curiosity ... Why's that you ask?

The public sphere cleaves to a neat dichotomy: left versus right, progressive versus conservative, feminist versus men's rights advocate. Recent spats over religion – atheist contra theist, New Atheist against Old Atheist – have a similar logic: a bicameral fracas, with high walls between the houses. Some mingle with various camps: with the progressives on abortion, conservatives in economics, for example. Others sit happily with the same company all their lives, a comfortable (but, to me, discomfiting) serenity that never lets conflict in the door. Either way, the "us and them" architecture remains.
