New Zealand's lessons for stale Australian politics

Australian politics today is stale. That explains the lack of excitement or public appeal surrounding it. There is a sense of well-worn public figures, captured by partisan gridlock, going through the motions for the sake of it. This is despite there being no shortage of potentially gripping issues, including energy policy, national security, immigration and citizenship, same-sex marriage and dual citizenship of parliamentarians. But the overwhelming impression is of unresolved, long-standing issues.
