Party divisions stymie national consideration of same-sex marriage

Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce is campaigning to persuade corporate Australia to support same-sex marriage, but he has kept out of the question of just how the parliamentary process should best approach resolving the matter. National consideration is now bogged down in politics within the major parties and politics between the major parties. All this is happening while Australia is becoming increasingly isolated from the rest of the Western world in regards to marriage reform.
