The ABC is to organise a national collection to help it get out of its current financial difficulties. The date has not been decided at this stage, but given how practised their journalists are at creating rumours, it is expected that there will be half a dozen possible dates leaked over the next few weeks. This allows the rest of the media to suggest which of these is most likely to be successful, so that the broadcaster does not need to hire a consultancy to help them pick the best date, thus saving them about $2.4 million.
