The report, which was prepared by the company's chief technology officer and released on Thursday, attempts to predict how technology will transform business operations in coming decades.

Simon Raik-Allen, who spent ten years working on artificial intelligence projects at university before working with start-ups in the Silicon Valley, said his predictions were reasonable despite being beyond some peoples' imagination.

"When you make predictions you of course wonder how far you are reaching but I'm pretty sure I have under-reached with most of my predictions," he said.

"If you look at how digital currency and touch screens technology, that's all here today so I don't think I have overestimated."

Mr Raik-Allen said the biggest change to the workforce since the introduction of email would be the use of holographic technology.

"Holographs could be used in shared spaces within urban spaces and allow companies to call on a remote workforce as if there were there, able to look them in the eye," he said.

"Skype doesn't really cut it so to really take advantage we will need to be able to see and be with people, as we are social beings and work best that way.

"You may never meet the people you work for in person, because you will be pitching your ideas to a global workforce."

Mr Raik-Allen said it was reasonable to expect that offices would make use of thought activation and mind control technologies.

"You will be able to have chips embedded in your body, that interface with various parts of your body to either report on your health so you can manage your food and vitamin intake, or send signals to various organs to help regulate your body," he said.

"Extremely tiny robots known as nanobots will crawl through your veins performing maintenance.

"Your brain will be also start to be integrated and there will be many things you can control just by thinking about them. You might even be able to purchase brain add-ons, just like you buy apps today for your phone."

Mr Raik-Allen said he expected many Australian businesses to make use of digital currencies, despite some of the legal challenges face by crypto-currencies like Bitcoin.

"You will be able to transact and be paid by internet-based crypto-currencies, which will be governed by independent bodies, such as associations and corporations, rather than governments," he said.

"Any business will be able to make its own currency – to buy and sell at values regulated by the market and at the perceived value of the company."
