We've had a broken up Your Turn season, with around half of December followed by four weeks on hiatus, and then the second half of January. As such, some entries were published over a month ago.
Nestled in among all of the end-of-year polls was Sam Spackman's excellent review of Paradox Interactive's medieval robber-baron simulator Crusader Kings II. It's a dense and complex game, and Sam did an excellent job of explaining how it works.
Next came two Screen Play Christmas regulars. First Andrew "luverly_5pam" Marshall presented his annual compilation of his "what have you been playing" statistics, collected every Monday here on Screen Play. Next, Steve "Smoolander" Smoothy regaled us with his annual Screen play Christmas song, this time a re-jigged version of The Pogues' Fairytale of New York. Steve has done one of these every year for quite a while now, and his 2012 was perhaps his best ever.
After the break, we came back with Ben Hayes's discussion about what it's like to be both a father of young children and a video game fan. It was an entertaining and thought-provoking read, and many gamer parents shared their own stories in the comments.
With such excellent quality submissions, it has been hard to pick a winner. Only one can take the prize, though, and this time I have decided to award it to Andrew "luverly_5pam" Marshall. I was shocked when I realised that Andrew has never won a Your Turn prize, despite many excellent submissions and his hard work on the Screen Play community's gameplay statistics.
Andrew will be taking home a PlayStation Vita Wi-Fi edition handheld gaming console worth $349, very kindly provided by Sony Australia, who have supported Your Turn from its inception.
If you would like a win a PS Vita at the end of February, you should consider submitting an article to Your Turn or Your Review. Send your submissions to SPYourTurn@gmail.com.
