Consumers will be able to report dodgy mobile applications to a federal government body inquiring into digital apps used on smartphones and tablets.
The Consumer Affairs Advisory Council is examining the apps market to see whether consumers receive enough information about download costs, "in-app" purchases and subscriptions.
"Some of these apps are causing consumers great frustration and cost, and this inquiry will name and shame some of the worst offenders," Assistant Treasurer David Bradbury said in a statement on Monday.
Mr Bradbury said the inquiry would look at the effectiveness of current measures to deal with consumer concerns, including consumer legal protections.
Submissions to the inquiry can be made until January 31.
