Canberra's consistent auction clearance rate continued into the last weekend of July with about half the properties that went under the hammer being sold.

There was also a number of properties that were close to a sale as of Saturday evening after they were passed in.
The highest price for the day was an even $1 million for a ''blank canvas'' property at 34 James Street, Curtin.
The four-bedroom house in largely original condition commands some of the best views in Canberra, according to Luton Properties Manuka agent Robert Westropp-Evans.
Mr Westropp-Evans said it was a good example of ''location, location, location'', as it backs onto a nature reserve in the popular suburb.
He said there had been 10 registered bidders for the 1960s property and most had placed at least one bid.
There were still four bidders when the price reached $950,000 and the home sold under the hammer for $1 million to a young couple looking to renovate the house over time.
''It's a strong result for Woden,'' he said.
At midday a dual occupancy home in Mawson was passed in following a vendor's bid of $550,000.
The sold brick house at 2 Pasco Street has four bedrooms, a living-dining room and a kitchen-meals area, ducted heating and timber and parquetry floors in the main living areas.
It has a private front veranda and an established low maintenance garden.
Agent Nigel Wilson from Luton Properties Manuka said the house would be good for an investor or as an entry point into the popular suburb of Mawson.
The second highest sale for the day was for a three-bedroom house at 5 Beauchamp Street, Deakin that had belonged to the same family for 47 years.
The house has a huge wraparound terrace providing sweeping views, a large sunny family room with a vaulted ceiling, a private leafy garden and spacious and light-filled formal and informal areas.
Peter Blackshaw Manuka agent Bronwyn McGrath said the house had been inspected by a good number of people and there had been eight registered bidders at the auction.
About 50 people watched the house sell under the hammer for $890,000.
''It was a comfortable family home,'' she said.
''I think it was a fairly good result for the sellers and buyers.''
