Production of the petrol-electric car will finish at the end of February.
Honda says it stopped production of the Insight because of poor sales results, as just 175 examples of the hybrid car were delivered to customers in 2013.
The Japanese manufacturer says there has been no change to production of the niche CR-Z hybrid sports car which found just 58 new homes in 2013.
By comparison, Toyota’s three-model Prius range were sold to 3835 customers around the country last year.
A spokeswoman for Honda Australia says “stock of the Insight in Australia is extremely limited” and customers should act quickly if they want to secure a car.
The original Insight sold locally between 2001 and 2004 was the first hybrid car offered in Australia.
That Insight was a two-door coupe with spaceship looks, while the current car offered from 2010 was a more conventional five-door hatch.
