Range Rover are set to introduce a top of the line Autobiography Evoque model to its line-up.
Range Rover has readied a riposte to rival SUVs threatening to take sales away from its best-selling SUV.
The British brand is set to introduce top-level Autobiography models to the Evoque range, including a sports model with more power and sharper dynamics.
The cars will feature leather interiors available in a choice of six colours along with revised styling that includes 20-inch wheels, a new front bumper and grille matched to updated lights at the front and rear.
On the technology front, in-car smartphone synchronisation will include app emulation software that allows smartphone services to be accessed from the car’s in-dash touchscreen.
Range Rover’s popular SUV is increasingly threatened by rival compact cars such as the Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3 and BMW X1.
Powered by a 210kW, 400Nm variant of the Ford-sourced EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, the Autobiography Dynamic will bring more pace to the Evoque range as well as firmer suspension with recalibrated dampers.
The new model will also have larger brakes and an active driveline to make it more engaging on the road.
Range Rover says the Autobiography models will arrive locally in the third quarter of 2015.
Local pricing has not been revealed, but the new models are expected to carry a significant premium over the regular Evoque range which currently starts at $49,995 plus on-road costs for the front-wheel-drive, diesel-powered five-door wagon.
