CANCON
8.30am: Canberra Wargames Society will host Cancon 2015 at Exhibition Park until Monday. All the usual Cancon events will be back, including boardgames, card games and fantasy role-playing tournaments, more than 50 games retail stalls, international guests/players, game designers, stacks of fantasy/sci-fi and militaria books and paraphernalia, and a new and improved second-hand stall. FOLK FESTIVAL
10am: The Numeralla Folk Festival runs until Monday with plenty to see, hear and do. Today's events include a poets' breakfast, dance and bluegrass workshops, children's activities and a bush dance. Numeralla is on Cooma Road, off the Monaro Highway in NSW. Website: numeralla.org.au/FolkFestival.

10am: Wordplay: A Pop Up Kids' Space in the Ferguson Room, Level 1 at the National Library of Australia, is a hands-on, interactive space where parents and kids can explore language and imagination through reading, writing and illustration. Enjoy hands-on activities including: drawing, poetry games, stamp making, letter blocks and iPad learning apps designed to inspire a love of language and learning. Or just curl up in one of the cosy reading nooks and be transported by some of Australia's award-winning children's stories. It's on until 4pm.

1.30pm: The Australian War Memorial's BAE Systems Theatre is screening The Colditz Story (1955, G) in which Allied prisoners of various nationalities pool their resources to plan numerous escapes from an "escape-proof" German POW camp housed in a mediaeval castle. Stars John Mills. Free admission.

AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL
7.30pm: Visitors can take a guided tour of the Hall of Memory, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the Roll of Honour before viewing the projections on the Memorial building of the names of the more than 60,000 servicemen and servicewomen who died in World War I.
