Lakeside cool at NGA Contemporary

Disconcerting to have so little fanfare, but maybe this new show is just too cool even to need it? More than 40 of Australia's current contemporary printmakers now have work on show at NGA Contemporary, including eX de Medici, Mike Parr, Marian Tubbs and Brent Harris. The works include conventional printmaking on paper, but much of it is transformed by the introduction of new media and digital prints, video, zines and textiles. Canberra-based artist Heather B. Swann has also created a 25-metre-long work of art that wraps the gallery windows with "imagery of surreal and otherworldly creatures". Streetwise: contemporary print culture is showing at NGA Contemporary, Queen Elizabeth Terrace on the southern foreshore of Lake Burley Griffin, until August 7.
