And the organisation didn’t have far to look, appointing Ingeborg Hansen, previously public programs manager, to the role.

Hansen has considerable experience as a printmaker, arts administrator and graphic designer, and, prior to her four years at Megalo, ran an independent bookshop in Braidwood, working closely with artists and writers and producing private press books.

She has also lectured in book design at the ANU since 2012.

She replaces Alison Alder, who was recently appointed Head of Workshop, Printmedia and Drawing, at the ANU School of Art.

Chair of Megalo’s board Penny Grist said Hansen’s own artistic practice would be integral to her new role as artistic director and chief executive.

“Importantly for a print studio that embraces screen-print, intaglio, relief and lithography, Ingeborg is accomplished across print media,” she said.

Her work will appear alongside that of Alder and the artist GW Bot in an upcoming exhibition to be shown in Canberra, Sydney and Thailand.

Hansen said she was looking forward to her future with Megalo in its new Kingston location.

“I am excited to continue working with the great team at Megalo and to lead the organisation through the growth of the Kingston Arts Precinct,” she said.

“I have begun building strong relationships with the Inner South Arts Hub, reinforcing the solid foundations of the vibrant arts scene in Canberra.”
