THE WEIGHT OF SHADOWS
The Weight of Shadows at ANU Photospace Gallery, Level 1, ANU School of Art, Childers Street, Acton, showcases new figurative works by local emerging artist Alexander Boynes. It came out of a recent trip out into the Tanami Desert, where Boynes spent time at Paruku, an Indigenous Protected Area (also known as Lake Gregory) and Mulan, the local community of about 120 people. Boynes' works reveal immediate glimpses into the present-day human condition and imagination, and attempt to address contemporary youth culture and its fears, challenges and the hope for a positive future for Australia. The exhibition opened last night and continues until September 16.
