I'm not sure how Anita Heiss is going to take it when I tell her during our interview that the thing I love about her books is the colour of the main characters is never an issue. Right after I say it, I think Heiss, a proud Aboriginal woman, might be offended I haven't recognised the importance of the fact she is writing about indigenous people and their place in the modern world.
