Bungendore Fine Art Gallery is continuing to celebrate its 10th anniversary until the end of August. Ten invited returning guest artists are helping to celebrate this milestone, namely Ian (Spike) Farrawell, Helen Hewitt, Catherine Lidden, Carole Osmotherly, Manuel Pfeiffer , Emma Rooke, Vivien Tanner, Margaret Turner, Lesley Wallington and Arlene Williams. These artists are displaying works featuring a diverse range of subjects in many media. Including pen and ink, scraperboard, pastels, oils, works on silk, lino prints as well as oils and watercolour. New ceramicists

The Emerging Artists Support Scheme Exhibition 2015 features the work of four ceramic artists who graduated from the Australian National University School of Art last year: Agnieszka Berger, Sue Hewat, Isabelle Mackay-Sim and Mark Saunders. The Polish-raised Berger finds clay gives her the opportunity for introspection that takes her into a world of touch and tranquillity. Hewat presents a series of works depicting an abstracted expression of the tideline where the interaction between form, line, light and texture create a metaphorical sense of place.The ceramic organisms of Isabelle Mackay-Sim lie somewhere between plant and animal and aim to elicit a mixed reaction of discomfort and fascination. And the main focus of Saunders' work is colour and exploring the possibilities of the marbling process that he has been developing.The exhibition is on at Watson Arts Centre, 1 Aspinall Street, until August 16. Child's play

Canberra artist Helani Laisk's solo exhibition kid is her first body of work after a break in her artistic practice of several years. She is interested in exploring aspects of the human body in her artwork. In this body of work, this exploration takes place from a conceptually very early standpoint in human life. In kid, Laisk is interested in beginning to push her practice in a different direction, by focusing on playfulness and childish curiosity in her work. The direction taken in developing her work is dictated by the choice of media. Using materials that have everyday domestic and social associations, such as clothing, carpet, cement, bedding, and other everyday objects, Laisk combines, reinvents and pushes these media, using these associations to invoke surprising, contradictory feelings in viewing the reinvented material It's on at ANCA Gallery, 1 Rosevear Place, Dickson, until August 16. The Queanbeyan Art Society presents the Annual Queanbeyan City Council Art Exhibition at the Queanbeyan Art Society Gallery in Trinculo Place, Queanbeyan. It's on until September 27. Cubism lectures

The ANU Drill Hall Gallery's series of lectures The fabulous adventure of Cubism presented by gallery director Terence Maloon continue on Sunday at 3pm with Cubism, collage, construction and Picasso's achievement in sculpture at Manning Clark Lecture Theatre, ANU. Forthcoming lectures are on August 9 at 3pm (Picasso and the problem of abstraction, Copland Lecture Theatre, ANU) and August 16 at 3pm (Altered perspectives – modern art after the conquest of the air, Manning Clark Lecture Theatre, ANU). Piano magic

Stir grants for grabs

Stir is an educational crowd-voted grants platform designed to inspire young Canberrans to pursue their personal projects as viable career paths. An initiative of the CBR Innovation Network, Stir is open to 15 to 30-year-olds from the ACT and Queanbeyan undertaking any kind of project, from art installations, to computer games, to new businesses. In the first round of Stir, 47 projects were submitted, more than 2500 votes were cast, and $15,000 was awarded to 15 creative and entrepreneurial Canberrans in two months. On August 8, Stir is holding a showcase featuring a market, demonstrations and performances by participants from Season One. The Stir Showcase will be held from 5 to 8pm at the CBR Innovation Network (Level 5, 1 Moore Street, City) and will include projects such as Evergreen, a video game in which a player grows a mythical world tree and encourages evolution through natural history, and Lacklustre Records, a DIY independent record label focusing on delivering vinyl, cassette and live music.
