Lifeguard and MasterChef heartthrob Hayden Quinn has been crowned CLEO Bachelor of the Year for 2012.
The former reality TV cook says he was shocked when his name was called at a special Bachelor event in Sydney on Wednesday night, but is happy to be a part of the "Bachelor of the Year club".
"It was a surprise and it was such an amazing contingency of guys up there (on stage). It was truly an honour to be named the 25th-year CLEO Bachelor of the Year," he told AAP.
Quinn, who was described by CLEO editor Gemma Crisp as the total package, was awarded a $10,000 cash prize and said he's considering giving some of it to charity.
Coming in second place was The X-Factor Australia finalist Johnny Ruffo, who could not attend the evening, while taking third spot was The Celebrity Apprentice Australia contestant Nathan Joliffe.
Joliffe said he didn't expect to be as overwhelmed as he was.
He said being involved in the competition was an unreal experience and he's "still out there to find love".
When asked what he was looking for in a woman he said: "Someone that's confident and can be themselves and can have a good time 'cause I'm probably a bit of a handful myself."
Earlier on stage at The Star's Marquee nightclub he quipped: "As a single guy this is basically eHarmony on steroids. I am single. I do not have a girlfriend."
Quinn, Ruffo and Joliffe were in a field of 50 bachelors, and were chosen by the Australian public, with 1.9 million votes cast online.
Bachelor finalist and Packed to the Rafters regular Ryan Corr said there hadn't been much competition among the guys themselves.
"It's sort of a whole lot of lads a bit like deer in headlights being wrangled together."
Corr said it was overwhelming having to deal with the spotlight and probing questions about ideal first dates.
Among the 400-strong crowd that turned out to party with the bachelors was model Jesinta Campbell and TV personality Ruby Rose.
Also gracing the red carpet ahead of the announcement was former CLEO editor and Bachelor competition founder Lisa Wilkinson, along with Brian McFadden and Jules Lund.
Ricki-Lee Coulter also wowed guests while performing two songs in black-sequined hot pants.
