Marriage celebrants held their national conference at Rydges Capital Hill and added a 40-year renewal ceremony to their own ruby celebrations.
It's 40 years since the establishment of the marriage celebrants program and this conference looked to the future as Brian and Nerryl Wheatley looked back at their marriage with family and friends joining them. They’d agreed to be part of Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants conference to recognise those 40 years since their own wedding.
This annual conference of the AFCC looked at ways celebrants needed to adjust to the changing cultural and religious beliefs of couples, wedding tourism bringing families to Australia, and growing demand for civil funeral and memorial services.
The AFCC is on the ball with trends and changes, maintaining the dignity and decorum we expect, and providing the alternatives and sometimes unusual choices.
