Brilliance from Clint Eastwood & Leonardo DiCaprio. Special mention to Naomi Watts is brilliant, even with effects that make her look older, and Judi Dench.
Overall an intriguing bio-pic about Hoover and the evolution of the FBI.

Honestly, I'm not going to watch this movie until it's out on dvd. Don't get me wrong, it looks like it'll be a very very very good film, and Leonardo DiCaprio is a very very very good actor who I like a lot. I'm just sick of seeing his name on films that are very very good and have no rewatch value. Recently - Blood Diamond was great, Inception also great, have them both on dvd. But I have to look up his imdb list of films to remember more films made since he wasn't the prettiest boy EVAHHHHH - that are something I want to watch twice. Shutter Island, The Aviator, The Departed all excellent films. Really great films. When I saw his name on the poster for J. Edgar I just thought "All right, you can act, we get it already!" For god's sake, somebody award this guy with a bloody Oscar - he's fantastic. and we all know it. and perhaps then there'll be some more movies I'd buy on dvd? Nothing wrong with doing great work on interesting topics with real challenges for an actor, but maybe a little action, a little comedy, a little horror, a little something? :P

A movie that could have been sooo much more. I have studied Hoover and found him to be an intriguing and interesting character, but this movie somehow managed to lose my interest. I found the movie painfully slow and dull. The story seems to just drift over Hoover's incredible career without really delving deep enough into any controversies. It felt as though I was in between a abbreviated documentary and a movie, not quite hitting each. All in all i watched the entire movie, by the end I was partially watching the movie partially mucking around on my phone
