The star of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues released a teaser to his new movie especially for Australian audiences on Friday.

“Well Australia, the battle of the titans has come to an end we will never forget the mental fisticuffs in which Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard [pronounced ‘Gill-lard’] were engaged.

“We laughed. We cried. We became distracted by Tony Abbott’s banana hammock. I certainly did. And forgot a Labor party ever existed. Good times Australia!” he summarised from behind the GNN – Global News Network desk.

Burgundy’s alter ego, comedian Will Ferrell is no stranger to the world of politics.

He recorded an endorsement for Barack Obama in the 2012 US election, in which he pleaded to US citizens to vote for the incumbent President.

“If you vote I’ll eat anything you tell me to. Garbage, hair, human toenails, underpants, whatever, I’ll do it. I’m serious. I’ll do anything to get you to vote. I’ll punch myself in the face…whatever it takes,” he said while wearing a smoking jacket in a study filled with many leather bound books.

During the 2008 race to the White House, Ferrell reprised his role as George W. Bush on comedy skit show Saturday Night Live.

He appeared in an episode to endorse then Republican Vice President hopeful Sarah “The Hot Lady” Palin, played by Tina Fey.

The clip received close to 2 million hits on YouTube.

Thanks to the ’08 presidential campaign, the 2008 season of Saturday Night Live experienced a 51 per cent rating surge.
