Since the passing of Chopper Read, much has been written about his life, his crimes and his legacy.
Cops have spoken, criminals cursed ... but few have memories to rival Jason "Jabba" Davis, the former Channel V presenter-turned-actor who kissed Chopper's bum on their first meeting and was nearly choked at their last.
"I first met Chopper 10 years ago when I was interviewing him about his stage show, and I asked if it was true he had a tattoo of Ita Buttrose on his bum," Jabba recalled.
Industry friend ... Jason Davis got up close and personal with Chopper Read.
"He said it was true, I asked if we could see it and he said 'sure', but only if I agreed to touch the tattoo. I said I'd go one better, if he dropped his pants I'd kiss his bum right on the tattoo ... and he did."
Then last year Davis, now a regular member of the Paul Fenech stable of actors, was called up to play "Dazza", a pot-smoking, tattooed troublemaker in Fenech's new film Housos Vs Authority.
Fenech decided a flashback scene would be needed to show how Dazza ended up the way he did. An abusive father was needed, the filmmaker felt, and Chopper Read was perfect for the job.
On set of Housos Vs Authority .. Chopper, left, and Jabba.
Jabba was keen to work with Read again and surprised by what he saw.
"When he arrived on set to shoot Housos it was obvious he was a lot worse for wear," he said.
"He was dreadfully frail, but would never show it. He wore slippers, when he played my dad, but when the cameras were rolling you couldn't shut him up and he nearly crushed my windpipe in one scene.
"But I had a great fondness for him. He's kind of like a cuddly bikie I suppose ... I think that's why he was forgiven for his crimes against criminals... and his sins against fiction."
