DJ 'Jack McCord' (Andrew) has suffered critical injuries in a motorcycle accident in Bali.

The music community has rallied behind Sydney DJ and producer Jack McCord who was seriously injured in motorcycle crash in Bali on Friday.

After learning of the severity of MrMcCord's injuries, which included shattering bones on the left side of his body, friends immediately took to social media to fundraise the $50,000 required to airlift him to Darwin.

The response was enormous, with more than $73,000 pouring in just three days.

Over the weekend, friends Paul Strange and Sean Doyle used social media to keep concerned supporters updated on MrMcCord's condition, while issuing pleas for donations.

Mr Strange, who recruited a host of Sydney DJs for a fundraiser at the Goldfish Nightclub on Sunday night, noted on his Facebook page last night that an additional $5500 had been raised at the event.

According to Mr Doyle's Facebook page, Mr McCord was transferred to Darwin on Sunday morning, and had been taken off sedation on Sunday night.

"[I]t goes without saying that we have given this man a fighting chance. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!" he posted.

After crashing his motorbike on Friday, McCord reportedly waited more than two hours to receive medical attention before being transferred to a local hospital. On arrival, medical costs began escalating as the DJ underwent eight hours of stabilising surgery, with friends noting that Mr McCord's initial hospital bills have exceeded $15,000.

Described by friends as "one of Sydney's best DJs", Mr McCord had been working and living in Bali for three years with his wife and one-year old son. It is not known whether he had medical or travel insurance.

In 2004, Mr McCord played at a prominent Sydney New Year's Eve event put on by British label Hed Kandi.
