KATE MILLER-HEIDKEO Vertigo!★★★1/2

As always, with O Vertigo! Miller-Heidke treads the fine line between the cutely quirky and the twee. But for the most part she gets away with it. Stepping away from ballads almost entirely, she has pushed even further into experimental Kate Bush/Bjork territory - with a splash of early Madonna thrown in. But that's not to say she's isn't doing things her own way. Both musically and financially this is very much her own album. Crowd-funded in advance, O Vertigo! is her first independent album. And it's a breath of fresh air. Teaming up with Drapht for Drama was a particular stroke of brilliance - it's a little bit rock and a little bit hip-hop.
