• wow, that's such a lightweight review of a heavyweight perfomance.

  the quartet did not "struggle to connect" at all.they connected with the whole room and received massive applause for their incredible perfomance of some very technically challenging pieces. sufjan's three pieces in particular were outstanding

  sufjan was good, sang beautifully, perhaps a tad too much harmoniser, but that's a minor quibble.

  the real star of the show was nico muhly as well as the compositions and arrangements. muhly is a musical giant and the arrangements towered over all concerned. truly brilliant.

  dessner was actually under-utilised and if anything, *he* struggled to connect.

  this review should have been 6/5, because that's just how astonishing this show actually was.
