PAUL BYRNES This debut feature from Argentina may be set in familiar terrain but it rises above the cliches of swamp noir to tell a story that feels fresh.

  • This movie is a successful reworking of Antonioni's THE PASSENGER, about a man switching identities only to find a more dangerous life in a world of noir-crime. The locations of this poverty stricken community living in these backwater rivers is brilliantly photographed and bares some similarity with the recent American indie film MUD. This is an extremely watchable film and may inspire an American remake?

  • After seeing this film, THIS is the review I was looking for... after reading several from reviewers who just did not get it. Beautiful beautiful nuanced film... Viggo and the setting were both magnificent. But I'm looking for the place where I can give it a star rating to nudge the other low reader ratings... ???

    • Search for the title on the movies page (theage.com.au/entertainment/movies) and look for the five vacant stars and the invitation to rate this movie. Hover over the stars and you can give it your own score
