A new work at La Mama celebrates the life of one of Australia's most eccentric writers and journalists.
The Giraffe's Uncle centres on Les Robinson, whose career saw him contributing work to The Bulletin, Punch and The Australian Worker.
At the same time he spent much of his life living in caves around Sydney Harbour, playing his gramophone on the beach and fishing for his supper.
The play is written by Melbourne playwright Kieran Carroll, while Robinson will be played by former Radio National arts broadcaster Martin Portus.
It opens January 31 at La Mama Courthouse, with tickets via lamama.com.au or 9347 6142.
