Australian actor John Noble has joined the cast of the new US drama Sleepy Hollow.
Noble is best known for his work on the series Fringe, and for his role in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy.
He has also starred in The Good Wife and 24.
Sleepy Hollow is the Fox network's reboot of Washington Irving's iconic American story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
It screens in Australia on the Ten Network.
Noble will play Henry Parrish in the series, a "kind and reclusive man" who possess supernatural powers. He will serve as an ally to the show's protagonist, Ichabod Crane [Tom Mison].
Sleepy Hollow is produced by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Heather Kadin, all of whom worked previously with Noble on Fringe.
Sleepy Hollow launched in the US earlier this month to an audience of 10.1 million viewers; it was the Fox network's most-watched autumn drama premiere in seven years.
In terms of scale its Australian audience is much smaller – about 600,000 viewers weekly – but it has been winning its timeslot, a significant windfall for Ten.
