An interesting documentary about the German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was part of Germany's anti-Nazi resistance, took part in assassination plots against Hitler and was hanged by the Nazis in the dying days of World War II. The documentary does a good job of laying out the reasons why so many of the German churches went along with the Nazis and how Bonhoeffer felt compelled to break away and help found the dissenting Confessional Church. Relatives, former students, historians and theologians contribute fascinating insights.
