Appearing on the set of The Voice to film a performance for Monday's first live finals show, the buff 37-year-old had more energy than a Zumba instructor and more charm than Bert Newton.

He burst onto the stage blowing kisses – one of which was in the direction of coach Kylie Minogue, who subsequently danced throughout the band's set – before cheekily interacting with the enthusiastic crowd.

"We've played a few gigs but can I just say you guys have been f---ing great for a TV audience," he said. "I think we played Sunrise this morning and we were playing in a two-metre box and had no audience, so this is sort of like redemption for us."

It wasn’t just Minogue who was enamoured with Martin’s presence. "I'm too old for you," he gushed to one young female fan before interrupting the floor manager and crowd warmer to ask the audience: "What can I do for you?"

As he blushed in reaction to another amorous request from a fan, he replied: "Oh no, I can't do that."

Coldplay performed stripped-back renditions of their latest singles Magic and A Sky Full of Stars, minus the laser beams and CGI effects that disappointed the critics who attended their intimate show at the Enmore Theatre earlier in the week.

The only razzle-dazzle came courtesy of Nine's version of Ryan Seacrest, Richard Wilkins, who swanned about, and the confetti bomb.

At a cocktail reception after the taping, Martin - who recently "consciously uncoupled" but is rumoured have reconnected with his wife, Gwyneth Paltrow - shed some light on why the band shunned interviews during their promotional tour to Australia.

"I'm actually glad we haven't had many photos taken because I've got a nose injury. I was pulling off a shirt the other day and one of the badges I was wearing was still on it and scratched all across my nose," he said before making a quiet exit.

Also at the taping was The Voice Kids coach Delta Goodrem, who looked radiant in a white, sequin-trimmed jumpsuit, a look she began to favour during her time on the original series. The singer, who now calls LA home, is looking forward to getting back into her mentoring role with former Spice Girl Mel B, Joel McFadden and his brother Benji.

"LA is home but my spirit is here and I'm really excited for the kids on the show, they are incredible," she said.

As well as her TV commitments, the Logie and ARIA award-winning musician is working on a new album.

"I've met some really cool people both here and in LA recently so I'm working on my music every day," she said.

The Voice Kids premieres on Sunday at 6.30pm on Nine.
