Tasmanian couple Jane Polley and Plinio Taurian were the first team eliminated from House Rules following the renovation of the sixth and final home.
The pair received the lowest score for their renovation efforts during the Seven Network series, leaving just five teams to fight out finals week.
The winner of the series will have their mortgage paid off.
Just one point separated the husband and wife from fifth-placed Victorian brothers Nick and Chris at the end of Monday night's show.
"This experience has been really hard at times," Polley said after being told they would not be contesting finals week.
"But it's been a really amazing experience to have with everyone here. We've loved it."
The remaining five teams will have their scores wiped and will start again with a 24-hour fix-up challenge.
The team with the lowest score after the fix-up challenge will be eliminated.
After Tuesday's elimination, four teams will battle it out in the semi-finals ahead of next Monday's grand final.
